UX Product Owner

Shibumi is committed to building easy-to-use solutions to support our clients’ complex, mission critical programs. We are looking for an exceptional design professional, ideally located in the Stamford, CT area, to help us achieve that goal.

About the Position

The UX Product Owner will be a member of the Product Management team but will contribute expertise to both the Engineering team as well as to the client-facing field teams.

For the Engineering team, you will help define and drive the future Shibumi product design. We will rely on your clear vision of the future of user experience to help us identify and set strategy which in turn will inspire the Engineering team to push the boundaries of what’s possible!

For the client-facing teams, you will apply your uncanny sense for clean and simple design to provide recommendations and guidelines for client solution configurations. You will be a fierce advocate for the various user personas and will be committed to creating elegantly simple user experiences from otherwise complex workflows. You will also take the time to understand not just the execution side of design, but the business aspects of the products as well.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a UX vision, along with a plan for evolutionary, iterative updates, that actualize the larger vision over time.
  • Own and lead the end-to-end UX design process of major product features including creation of story boards, wireframes, mocks, UI specifications, etc.
  • Participate in design critique and product steering committee strategy meetings
  • Partner with Engineers as they build and release product 
  • Partner with the Solution Consulting team to provide guidance and UX expertise for the solutions they implement for our clients
  • Design and prototype multiple ideas quickly, often with customers and/or partners, to validate product directions

Qualifications

  • 5+ years relevant design experience at a high tech, product-driven company; ideally in the SaaS/PaaS space
  • Ability to clearly communicate design work with solid rationale (applying research and data)
  • A strong understanding of the product development process, from ideation through release
  • Ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries to define, manage, and prioritize work with a healthy disdain for inefficiency, bureaucracy, and groupthink
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex interaction concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
  • Have a sense of humor, a strong sense of pride in your work, and a willingness to give and take feedback

Sr. Java Engineer 

We are looking for someone who has worked on distributed systems (probably a cloud based web app) that scaled up to a decent number of users and/or data volume. This person would be familiar with designing, developing, implementation, debugging and maintaining web applications and could use their experience to help us with the architecture / design of our application. Candidates who fall into this category will likely have:

  • Knowledge of common web security concerns like SQL injection and XSS
  • Experience with REST APIs
  • Experience using relational databases in multi-tenant environments
  • All of that, plus being a Java Jedi

  • Build and maintain high-performance, fault-tolerant, scalable distributed software systems

Client Partner

Shibumi goes to market through both direct sales and partnerships with management consulting firms, with a primary focused on global enterprises. Most Shibumi sales are highly consultative, with a requirement to understand complex business requirements and craft a solution that meets those needs.

The Client Partner will drive the end-to-end expansion of Shibumi’s business within defined accounts and regions: working directly with customer business and IT buyers, as well as supporting partner management consulting firms in their own sales cycle. Within established accounts, the Client Partner will drive growth by both ensuring the success of existing use cases and identifying new use cases that align with customer strategic priorities. The Client Partner will also develop new accounts through industry and use case-centered prospecting.

This role is part of a broader client-facing team that includes sales, solution consultants and customer success. Shibumi’s client-facing team is collaborative, with a passionate focus on helping our customers achieve their objectives. Client-facing team members are supported by the right tools, training, and internal resources to support success. This position is on the North American sales team reporting to the VP of Sales of the Americas. The territory includes East Coast accounts. Travel will be 30-50% depending on customer requirements.

Solutions Consultant

The Shibumi Solutions Consulting team drives awareness, adoption, delivery and implementation of the Shibumi platform and solutions. The fast-paced environment at Shibumi provides opportunity for lateral and upward growth both within the Customer Success team as well as on other teams in the organization.

Solutions Consultants coach, train and mentor Shibumi customers and partners on the how to leverage the Shibumi product to most effectively meet each client’s unique requirements. Solutions Consultants are key participants in all stages of the customer lifecycle – pre-sales, implementation, on-going support and account expansion opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a solution expert within the Customer Success team across client engagements
  • Understand and translate client business artifacts and requirements into Shibumi solution structures and templates
  • Provide support throughout all aspects of the sales and implementation process, including development of customized demonstrations, development of marketing and training collateral and support of client implementation activities
  • Balance multiple ongoing engagements at a variety of stages, managing expectations of key internal and external stakeholders
